During June, as part of the project “Eco Leaders – Youth for a Clean Future,” three educational workshops were organized, bringing together young nature enthusiasts and activists from Rožaje.
The first workshop, dedicated to hiking safety and outdoor skills, was led by experienced mountaineer Mr. Eldin Brđanin. Participants gained practical knowledge about orientation, equipment, and procedures in emergency situations.
The second workshop focused on the biodiversity of Hajla and was conducted by biologist and ecologist Alija Kalač. Young participants explored the richness of the mountain’s plant and animal life, learning about endemic species, ornithological significance, and threats such as pollution, forest exploitation, and illegal hunting.
The third workshop opened space for creative digital expression using the tools Canva and CapCut. Academic artist Prof. Senad Pepić introduced participants to the basics of visual communication and storytelling, while the young participants developed posters, video content, and infographics with environmental messages. The inspiring exercise “Imagine You Are the Ibar River” encouraged them to see the world from the perspective of nature and translate their emotions into powerful visual stories.
These workshops represent an introduction to the eco camp in Štedim, which will take place at the end of June as the culmination of the educational program and joint work on nature protection.
The project is implemented by the NGO EkoGard, with the support of the De facto for Youth programme, implemented by the Active Citizenship Fund (fAKT) in partnership with Alfa Center.
The project is funded by the European Union and co-financed by the Ministry of Regional Development and Cooperation with NGOs.
