Within the “Očistimo Rožaje” initiative, the first air quality monitoring device in the city — an IQAir AirVisual Pro — was installed. The project was implemented in cooperation with the organization KOD from Podgorica, with technical support provided by EkoGard members, with the aim of establishing publicly accessible and transparent air quality monitoring in Rožaje.

Context & Problem

Rožaje, like many smaller communities, did not have a system for continuous air quality monitoring, despite pollution and related health risks becoming an increasingly important issue. The lack of reliable and publicly available data prevented citizens, institutions, and organizations from addressing air quality issues in an evidence-based manner and from undertaking appropriate measures.

The installation of the device represents an initial step towards a broader air quality monitoring system in Rožaje. The collected data can serve as a foundation for future projects, advocacy activities, and cooperation with institutions.
