Who We Are

EkoGard is an organization dedicated to preserving natural spaces and reshaping the relationship between people and their environment through ecology, art, and youth education, while cultivating solidarity and social responsibility within the local community.
We were founded on the conviction that nature is not merely a resource, but a shared heritage that demands knowledge, care, and responsibility — towards the land and towards one another.

What We Do

Our work is built around three interconnected principles through which we shape care, understanding, and a responsible relationship with nature and place.

Understanding

Through education, art, and creative processes, we cultivate an understanding of the value of place as the foundation of a responsible relationship with nature.

Responsibility

We develop and advocate models of responsible relationships with place that recognize natural resources as a long-term value, rather than as objects of irreversible exploitation.

Protection

Through fieldwork, environmental actions, advocacy, and civic monitoring, we actively protect natural spaces and contribute to their long-term preservation.

Why We Do It

Natural spaces in Montenegro are increasingly exposed to unsustainable use, pollution, and the loss of local knowledge.

At the same time, young people often lack the space, tools, and support to actively engage in shaping and protecting their communities.

EkoGard operates at the intersection where these challenges meet.
